San Leandro Residence

A single-level Spanish Revival home, originally designed by famed Architect James Osborn Craig in 1919, is the jewel of this oak-studded 4-acre compound our clients purchased to create their own idyllic Shangri-La. The major renovation/addition includes the expansion and replacement of two unfortunate 1980s additions, making them more cohesive with the original architecture. Both interiors and exteriors remain true to the original Spanish details and materials, with updates for modern living. As we often do, we worked closely with architectural historians to assure the home stayed true to James Osborn Craig’s vision. Larger doors and windows connect to an expansive patio and lawn at the rear of the house, bordered by San Ysidro Creek.

NMA were sensitive to the historic home's scale and proportion when working on the renovation and in the end came up with a really beautiful design.
