My Life

I grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado in a town called Golden. Tucked between beautiful mesas and the foothills, my childhood was rich with adventures and a deep love for nature. Fortunate to be in a family that traveled often, my young adult life was filled with scuba diving, skiing, biking, safaris and museum visits. During high school, I found a love for technical theatre and acting. Building sets and organizing lighting I discovered my passion for design and began to peruse it through architecture at Cal Poly. Studying in San Luis Obispo, I continued to develop my artistic voice, working in ceramics and watercolor as a means to design, teach, and relax. My passion for ceramics has taken me across the world, from working in Costa Rica to learning from masters in the town of Mashiko. Additionally, during my study abroad in both Europe and Japan, I honed my painting abilities, finding great inspiration from a multitude of architectural styles. Now graduated, I am thrilled to join the community of sunny Santa Barbara and continue working with NMA.

My Inspiration

I am always most inspired by the people around me. My sister is an incredible artist, along with many of my other friends and family whose work will always be my standard to strive for. Additionally, visiting museums and seeing the works of artists around the world has greatly strengthened my artistic knowledge and passion for creativity. Finally, I will always gain inspiration from the natural world around me, finding the most beauty in what Mother Nature creates.

Favorite Memory

My favorite memory is my family’s annual trip to Lake Chelan. Every summer we’d visit family there and have the most fun renting jet skis and cliff jumping. Most memorable however was our “family Olympics” where we’d compete in physical challenges trying to win gold for our chosen countries to represent.
