My Life

La Canada Flintridge is a smallish town on the foothills of the fastest growing mountain range in the world - the San Gabriels just inland of Los Angeles.  This is where I grew up - in a paradoxically lush "Tree City" in the middle of what ought to be a desert - a secluded and self-sufficient pocket at the edge of one of the country's largest cities.  A couple decades of that, and then an undergraduate education in architecture meant moving to the ideallic town of San Luis Obispo on the central coast of California, where I developed my sense of contrast from the urban landscape and an overwhelming love of the outdoors.  Most recently, I moved to the Santa Barbara area to work with NMA.  Here, I hope to maintain my passion for both nature and our attempts to create something as beautiful.

My Inspiration

My father is a methodical and hard-working Civil Engineer turned Construction Manager, and my mother is an Industrial Designer with an artist's sensibility and the handiwork of a craftsperson.  I like to think their inspiring parenting is fairly apparent in my interest in architecture.  Otherwise, I find inspiration just about anywhere - in nature, in traveling, in both artistry and utility, and in my friends and other people.
